Off Campus - Ms. Levin
JAMS has a chance to participate in an orienteering set course with the Los Angeles Orienteering Club. Students will use topo maps and compasses to work their way through an intermediate course. Students need a parent to shadow them through the course, and provide transportation, but kids can run in groups of up to 4. All students must complete an online waiver, pay $10 per student, and there are set times for online registration prior to each event. Information can be found at http://losangelesorienteering.org. There is a one hour session from 3-4pm in rm. 30 at JAMS lead by Mrs. Levin on Tuesday before the event.
Take the Interstate 5 north through LA to the north end of the San Fernando Valley. Most LA freeways converge onto the I-5 at this point (210, 405, 170, 118). Just a few miles north of the convergence, head East on Highway 14 (the Antelope fwy) and drive about fifteen miles, then exit at Agua Dulce Road. Go north a couple of miles. Follow the road as it turns right, continue past a stop sign* for 1/4 mile. Park entrance is on the right. Continue through park on the dirt road to the large parking area. Parking is FREE. (*turn at the stop sign for stores and restaurants)
